David Hockney
David Hockney is a highly acclaimed artist of the 20th and 21st centuries, known for his versatility in producing acrylic paintings, photo collages, full-scale opera set designs, and digital works created on iPads. He gained recognition for his semi-abstract paintings of gay love as a pioneer of the 1960s British movement. In 1964, Hockney relocated to California and depicted his new surroundings through sensual, pastel-hued scenes of uninhibited queer men. The idyllic, sunny backdrops of his paintings feature swimming pools, palm trees, and beautiful homes. Hockney's work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Royal Academy of Arts in London, and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. On the secondary market, his work has sold for more than $90 million.
